COMEPESCA
COMEPESCA, the Mexican Council for the Promotion of Wild and Aquaculture Seafood, created in 2003, is a civil society integrated by businessmen from the productive and commercial chain of the fisheries and aquaculture sector. It is made up by aquaculture farmers, shipowners, processors, distributors, and traders of fishery and aquaculture products around the country, including different educational, scientific, and professional organisms.
Our Mision
The council’s mission is promoting Mexican fish and seafood consumption, creating a national diet that includes fishery and aquaculture products at least three times a week, as well as helping reduce the current high levels of malnourishment, overweight, and obesity, that affect our country, through diverse promotion campaigns, both in the national as well as the regional scopes, in addition to promoting exportable fishery resources internationally.
COMEPESCA has successfully carried out 5 campaigns to promote consumption, in which, different results have been achieved, such as: strengthening the remembrance of consuming Mexican fish and seafood, generating confidence in their consumption, hindering high negative perception, and as a consequence, consumption has risen.
The results obtained from these campaigns have been successful since the downward trend in per capita yearly consumption, has been reversed, from 7.16 Kg in 2001 to 10.42, in 2007.
